you can use named ranges in Data Validation lists in Excel. Here are the steps:
Create a named range for the list of values you want to use in the Data Validation list.
Select the cell where you want to apply the Data Validation list.
On the Data tab, in the Data Validation group, click Data Validation.
In the Allow drop-down list, select List.
In the Source box, type an equal sign (=) and the name of the named range.
Click OK.
For example, if you have a named range called States that contains a list of all the states in the United States, you could use the following steps to create a Data Validation list that only allows users to enter valid states:
Create the named range States.
--------------------------------
Select cell A1.
On the Data tab, in the Data Validation group, click Data Validation.
In the Allow drop-down list, select List.
In the Source box, type =States.
Click OK.
Now, when a user enters a value in cell A1, only values that are in the States named range will be allowed.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when using named ranges in Data Validation lists:
The named range must be a single range of cells. You cannot use a named range that refers to multiple ranges of cells.
The named range must be defined in the same workbook as the cell where you are applying the Data Validation list.
The named range must be visible in the workbook. If the named range is hidden, it will not be available for use in the Data Validation list.
